Edit Connections list

One fitting can have as many connected fittings or routed segments as it has connection points. Connections for all the connection points of a fitting are displayed in the Edit Connections list. Connections can be any of the following types:

  • < hose >: Indicates a connection with a hose segment. Connections formed during hose creation cannot be deleted.
  • < pipe >: Indicates a connection with a pipe segment. Connections formed by the system during automatic routing or by dropping a fitting onto the pipe segment cannot be deleted.
  • < tube >: Indicates a connection with a tube segment. Connections formed by the system during automatic routing or by dropping a fitting onto the tube segment cannot be deleted.
  • < partname: n >: Indicates a connection with a fitting or a normal Inventor part. Clicking the part connection highlights the part both in the graphics window and in the model browser.
  • < no connection >: Indicates the connection point has no association with any fitting or component. Or indicates there is a connection to an Autodesk Inventor part. The part display name is displayed in the list.

Engagement

  • Free Fitting: Uses the free fitting engagement type for the selected connection..
  • Base Fitting: Uses the base fitting engagement type for the selected connection.
  • User Defined: Determines your own engagement by entering a specific distance value.
Note: If neither part involved in the connection is a fitting, only User Defined is available with a default engagement distance of 0.

  • A positive number moves the free fitting or component toward the connected base fitting or component.
