The InfoWorks Server Configuration Manager (SCM) is a dialog based application that provides a user interface to configure supported servers and control the services that run these servers. All supported servers that are installed as and operate as a Windows Service will appear in the SCM interface. The following Innovyze components are supported Windows services:
- Live Server, which provides functions for:
- Scheduling, monitoring and managing automatic simulations.
- Providing real-time services and data to ICMLive clients.
- Performing simulation maintenance.
- Data Loader, which provides the following functions:
- Initiates the automatic loading of telemetry data into a Times Series Data objects on a scheduled basis.
- Monitors external triggers and initiates the loading of telemetry data into a Time Series Data object when an external trigger is invoked.
- Manages the Data Loader submitted jobs of the local InfoWorks Agent job queue.
For further information about these components, refer to the Innovyze Live Server and the Innovyze Data Loader Administration Guides.
Security
The user requires administrator level permissions in order to run the application. This permission level is required in order to write configuration files to protected directories and to change service configuration properties.
User Interface
Each InfoWorks Server Configuration Manager property page is accessed by selecting a node on the property sheet tree control (on the left).
If a parent node is selected then its first child property sheet is displayed. The currently active property page is always denoted by the
symbol that is displayed adjacent to the tree node name.
The Service property page is automatically opened when InfoWorks Server Configuration Manager is started. The content of the page is dependant on which Windows service is currently active. The screenshot below shows the Live Server Windows Service page.
All supported servers that are installed as and operate as a Windows Service will appear as a child node of the Windows Service tree node. If a supported service is not installed, it will not appear as a node on the tree.
The table below summarises the command buttons available on each property page:
Option | Description |
---|---|
About | Display the About box. |
OK |
Save all configuration changes made to the server configuration file and the service configuration properties, and closes InfoWorks Server Configuration Manager. All services that are affected by these configuration changes are automatically restarted so that the servers will be running with the latest configuration. |
Cancel |
Ignore all configuration changes made to the server configuration file and the service configuration properties. However if changes have been made, the user will be prompted to save these changes before the application is exited. |
Apply |
Apply changes to the property page without closing InfoWorks Server Configuration Manager. |
Help |
Display context-sensitive help for the currently active property page. Tip: This is slightly different from pressing the
F1 key. When
F1 is pressed, the help file for the
InfoWorks Server Configuration Manager is opened on its default page.
