Creating a transportable database

You can create a transportable database for transferring data between databases. The transportable database is initially empty. Once created, you can copy data from the database into the transportable database.

To create a transportable database:

  1. Open a database that you want to copy data from (unless it is already the current database).
  2. Select File | Open| Open new transportable database.

A standard Windows Save As dialog is displayed.

  3. Browse to where you want to save the transportable database, and enter a name for it.
    • The transportable database is given a .wspt extension.
    • A view of the transportable database is shown in an explorer-type window.
  4. From the Database version drop-down list, choose which version of the database is to be used for the new transportable database.
  5. Click Save.
  6. You can now copy data from the database to the transportable database.
