To Import Inspection Data

To import inspection data from the AutoCAD Map 3D toolset Maintenance workspace

  1. In AutoCAD Map 3D toolset, switch to the Maintenance workspace
  2. Open a project that includes both an intermediate industry model and a main wastewater industry model. Click Open.
  3. Select the intermediate industry model tab. For example, WW_IMPORT.
  4. Click the Industry Model explorer icon.
  5. Right-click the intermediate industry model in the tree view and select Import Wastewater Import.
  6. In the Select Import pane of the Wastewater Import dialog box, do one of the following:
    • Click Create to create a new import.
    • Continue with an old import. Open the list of imports, if any are present, and select an import.

    Click Next.

  7. In the Import Data - Specify Import File pane, do the following:
    • Specify the Import Type. See also Inspection File Formats.
    • Click the Add button to choose the inspection file you want to import.
    Tip:

If there is a video file that accompanies the import file, placing them in the same folder ensures that both will import together. Storing the files on a network server gives accessibility to all who need to import the data.

Click Next to begin importing data.

    Note:

This can take a while depending upon the size the inspection file and the number of features involved.

  8. When the file is imported, click Next.

Features in the import file are matched against the main industry model.

  9. In the Match Features pane, wait for the features to be matched against the main industry model and then do the following:
    • If there are feature mismatches, resolve them by excluding the features from the import, manually matching the features, or by ignoring the mismatches.
    • Once all mismatched features are resolved, click Next.
  10. In the Match Attributes pane, wait for the validation process to finish and then do the following:
    • For any features that fail validation, fix the problems.

Conflicts can be fixed individually by selecting a feature and choosing whether the conflicting attributes should use the old or new feature values. You can also fix multiple conflicts by selecting the Attribute Values Conflicting heading and choosing whether to keep the old feature values or replace with the new feature values.

    • Click Next.
  11. In the Validate Data pane, do the following:
  12. In the Create Geometry pane, wait for the geometry to be created. Click Next.
  13. In the Commit Import pane, click Next to begin committing the inspection data to the main industry model.

Click Next to copy media files and to update the main industry model. Click Finish.

    Note:

If you did not specify any media files, click Next to update the main industry model with imported features.

Optionally, if Jobs are enabled for the main wastewater industry model, the Import Settings pane is accessible where you can do the following:

  • Select an existing job.
  • Create a new job based on a predefined job template.
