You can use these smoothing operations to clean up patched areas of a mesh, or simply as a sculpting tool.
Note: Smoothing does not change the topology of the mesh, it only moves vertices.
- Select faces in the areas you want to smooth.
You can select multiple regions on a single mesh, or select multiple regions over multiple meshes at the same time.
- Depending on the smoothing effect you want, do either of the following:
- To make the region as taut as possible, without regard for neighboring faces, select Mesh > Tighten Selection.
Tighten moves vertices in the selected region to pull the associated faces flat like a drum.
- To smooth the region with a softer effect, select Mesh > Fair Selection.
Fair moves vertices in the selected region so that the associated faces blend smoothly with the surrounding faces.
- To make the region as taut as possible, without regard for neighboring faces, select Mesh > Tighten Selection.
