Warp Analysis tab dialog

The Warp Analysis tab dialog is used to specify input values for a Warp analysis.

Note: Different inputs are available depending upon the molding process and mesh type that you have chosen.
Important: For thermoset materials, you can only perform a Warp analysis if you select:
  • An analysis sequence that includes the Compressible solver, and
  • A material that includes pvT properties data.
Note: Warp analysis inputs can be specified on the Warp Settings page of the Process Settings Wizard.
Dialog elementExplanation
Warpage analysis typeAllows you to select the type of Warp analysis to run.
Stress results to outputSpecify which laminate-based stress-related results the solver will output.
Consider gate surface and cold runners?Specifies whether cold runners and/or gate surface elements, if present in your model, are considered during Warp analysis.
Consider mold thermal expansionSelect this checkbox if you want Warp analysis to consider the effect of mold thermal expansion on the warpage and molded-in stress levels in the part.
Consider corner effectsSelect this option if you want the Warp analysis to calculate and account for deformations due to mold-restraint induced differential shrinkage.
Cavity dimensions include mold shrinkage allowance. Adjust constraint positions automaticallySelect this option if you want to compare the deflected shape of an unconstrained part whose dimensions already include mold shrinkage allowance, to the designed part shape, or you want the warp analysis to adjust constraint positions according to the mold shrinkage allowance.
Mold shrinkage allowanceSpecifies the mold shrinkage allowance if you turn on Cavity dimensions include mold shrinkage allowance. Adjust constraint positions automatically
Matrix solverSelect the equation solver to be used in the Warp analysis.
Include tetrahedral cold runnersSpecifies whether tetrahedral cold runners, if present in your model, are considered during Warp analysis.
Use mesh aggregation and 2nd-order tetrahedral elementsControls whether 3D Warp analysis should employ mesh aggregation. This makes little difference for Warp analysis but produces a result more quickly.
Interface to other structural analysisThis option controls whether 3D Warp analysis outputs the initial stress tensor before performing the analysis. This initial stress tensor can then be used in another warpage analysis program.
Number of threads for parallelizationSpecify the number of threads to be used for parallel solution. The default setting is Single thread (No parallelization).
Use AMG matrix solverThe AMG solver improves the speed of the analysis by using progressively coarser mesh grids for computations.
