Exporting CAD geometry to *.sat or *.stp file format

To export CAD solid geometry to SAT v7 *.sat or STEP *.stp file format, the study must contain one or more imported CAD models in a supported native geometry format. CAD geometry formats that can be exported include:

  • CATIA® V5 - R10 to 6R2024
  • Parasolid® up to V37
  • Pro/ENGINEER® Wildfire® 1.0 to 5.0
  • SolidWorks® 2006 to 2025
  • Autodesk Inventor up to 2026
  • NX 12, 1847, 1872, 1899, 1926, 1953, 1980, 2007, 2206, 2212, 2306, 2312, 2406 Series
  • Rhino up to 8.0
  • Alias v10 to 2026
  • Creo™ Elements/Pro™ 1.0 to 11.0
  • SAT v4 to v7
  • Siemens PLM
  1. Open a study that contains at least one imported CAD model.

  2. Click export model icon (Application menu > Export > Model).

  3. Navigate to the location where you want the exported file to be saved.

  4. From the Save as type drop-down list, select the appropriate file format.

  5. In the File name text box, specify a name for the export file.

  6. Click Save.

Note: When exporting to SAT v7 *.sat file format, if you select a CAD body that is a component of an assembly, the entire assembly will be exported to a single file.
Note: When exporting to STEP *.stp file format, if you select a CAD body that is a component of an assembly, only the selected components will be exported to the single file.

A message is displayed to indicate that the exported file has been saved successfully.

Note: If no supported CAD model is found in the study, an error message is displayed.

You can open the exported file in your CAD system to modify the geometry.
