Color-code Models

Color-code Models by Property Values

  1. Open the Appearance Profile dialog.

  2. In the Profiles area, click .

  3. Enter a name for the profile and click OK.

  4. Click the By Property tab in the Rule area.

  5. Select a category and property from the drop-down lists.

  6. Select the desired rule, for example Equals, and then choose the selector option.

  7. Choose a color and transparency to be applied to the objects that match the criteria.

  8. Click Test Selection. All objects that match the criteria are selected in the Scene View, and have the selected color applied.

  9. Click Add. The selector is now added to the Profile Rules area.

  10. Repeat steps 5 - 9 until you have added all required selectors. Remember, the order of selectors in the list is important.

    Tip: If you use your first selector to override the color of the entire model to gray with 80% transparency, other color overrides will stand out more.
  11. In the Profiles area, click Apply Profile. The objects in your model are now color-coded.

Color-code Models by Search and Selection Sets

  1. Open the Appearance Profile dialog.
  2. In the Profiles area, click .
  3. Enter a name for the profile and click OK.
  4. Click the By Set tab in the Rule area.
  5. Select the set that you want to use in the list.
  6. Choose a color and transparency to be applied to the objects that match the criteria.
  7. Click Test Selection. All objects that satisfy the criteria are selected in the Scene View, and have the selected color applied.
  8. Click Add. The selector is now added to the Profile Rules list.
  9. Repeat steps 5 - 8 until you have added all required selectors. Remember, the order of selectors in the list is important.
  10. In the Profiles area, click Apply Profile. The objects in your model are now color-coded.

Reset Color Overrides Back to Original Values

  1. Click Home tab > Project panel > Reset All drop-down > Appearances.
Tip: You can also click the icon in the Profiles area to reset appearances.
