To calibrate dual-devices

When using two, portable measuring devices to inspect a part, you must calibrate each device separately using a common set of spheres. This ensures the measurements of both devices are reported in the same coordinate system.

  1. Click Tools tab > Dual Column > Machine Position Calibration. The Basic Setup page of the Dual Device Calibration Wizard is displayed.
  2. In the Anchored to list, select the device you want to use to determine the Machine datum, and click Next. The Definition of Calibration Objects page is displayed.
  3. Click to create the items that you want to use to calibrate the measuring devices. You must specify at least three calibration items and be able to probe each item from both devices.
  4. When you have specified all the calibration items, click Next. The Measuring page is displayed.

  5. For each calibration item in the Measuring status list, probe the number of points specified in the Finish after box.

To override the specified number of points, deselect the Auto-accept check box, and click Done when you have finished probing.

  6. Click Next. The Measuring page is displayed.
  7. Probe the calibration items with device 2 in the same order as you used for device 1, and then click Next. The Result page is displayed.
  8. The accuracy of the calibration is displayed in the Deviation box. Click:
    • Show Calculated Matrix to display the transformation matrix for the second device.
    • Back to reprobe the calibration items if the deviation is outside acceptable limits.
    • Finish to accept the results and close the wizard.
