To navigate the CAD view

Control the magnification and orientation of the model in the CAD View and Section View.

To resize the model to fit the CAD View

Resize the model to fit the CAD View or Section View.

  • Click View tab > Navigation > Resize to Fit or press Ctrl+A.

To Zoom in and out of the CAD View

Zoom in and out of the centre of CAD View.

  1. Click View tab > Navigation > Zoom .
  2. Click the Zoom arrow, and select one of the following:
    • Zoom In to increase the magnification of the CAD View with each button click.
    • Zoom Out to reduce the magnification of the CAD View with each button click.

If your mouse has a central wheel, you can also zoom in and out of the cursor location by rolling the mouse wheel.

To choose the mouse mode

Specify the action of the mouse when you left-click and drag in the CAD view.

  1. Click View tab > Navigation > Mode.
  2. Click the Mode arrow and select one of the following:
    • Zoom to Box Mode to zoom in to a specified area of the model.

      Click and drag the cursor to create a box. When you release the mouse button, PowerInspect zooms the area bounded by the box.

    • Zoom Mode to zoom in and out of the CAD View.

      Click and drag the mouse forwards to zoom in; click and drag the mouse backward to zoom out. If your mouse has a central wheel, you can also roll the wheel forwards to zoom in, and roll it back to zoom out.

    • Pan Mode to move the CAD view vertically and horizontally.
    • Rotate Mode to rotate the CAD View around its centre.

When you select an option, its icon is displayed on the Mode button to indicate the currently selected action. The state remains unchanged until you make another selection.

To rotate the CAD view by steps

Rotate the CAD View in five-degree increments around the currently selected rotation anchor.

  1. Click View tab > Navigation > Rotate.
  2. Click the Rotate arrow and choose the axis and direction of rotation:
    • Rotate -X to rotate the view counterclockwise around the X axis.
    • Rotate -Y to rotate the view counterclockwise around the Y axis.
    • Rotate -Z to rotate the view counterclockwise around the Z axis.
    • Rotate +X to rotate the view clockwise around the X axis.
    • Rotate +Y to rotate the view clockwise around the Y axis.
    • Rotate +Z to rotate the view clockwise around the Z axis.

The button icon changes to indicate the selected option.

To rotate the Section View

To rotate the section view in five-degree increments.

  • Click View tab > Navigation > Rotate Section View.

    To choose the direction of rotation, click the Rotate Section View arrow and select Counter-Clockwise or Clockwise. The button icon changes to indicate the selected option.

Note: The Rotate Section View button is displayed only when the Section View tab is selected.

To change the viewpoint for a section

Switch between the front and back view of a section.

  • Click View tab > Navigation > Front/Back Section View.

Click the button again to return to the original view point.

Note: The Front/Back Section View button is displayed only when the Section View tab is selected.
