Notes

Any measurements, regions, markups, and selections created within ReCap, along with any general points within your project, can have notes assigned directly to them, allowing for a richer form of communication. Title and description text, along with image attachments, can be added to annotations at any point by selecting the "Note" tool either on the in-canvas object:

or through its Project Navigator representation:

Image attachments can be added as a part of any note. Attachments have a limit of 7 per note.

Once added, any attachments can be viewed through the thumbnail browser or preview window on-click.

Formats currently supported include: JPEG, BMP, PNG, & GIF.

You can create and edit notes that label the various measurements you create. When you do not need the notes or measurements, you can delete them or temporarily hide them through the "eye" icon. All of these options are available through the measurements in the canvas or from within the Project Navigator.

Import/Export

Notes can also be imported and exported from ReCap through a CSV file. To import notes click on the import button in the Project Navigator.

Once clicked you are prompted to provide a CSV file that generates the notes. Format your CSV file as follows:

x, y, z, Note Title, Note Description, Image

For image, specify the image file name. The image should be located under < csvfilename >_attachments folder next to the csv file.

One note is generated per line at the x, y, z location you specify.

Once imported, your notes will be visible in the scene as well as the Project Navigator. You can also export your entire set of notes to a CSV file from the same access point in the Project Navigator. Any images will be saved to < csvfilename >_attachment folder next to the csv file.

If your note contains any unicode character, Excel may not be able to display the unicode character properly. To work around the issue, follow the below steps.

  1. Create a new workbook in Excel.
  2. Search for "import csv".
  3. Open the csv file.
  4. Choose 'File Origin 65001 Unicode (UTF-8)'.
  5. Click Load

The unicode character should be displayed in Excel.
