Member definition - additional parameters

The option is used to define additional code parameters of the steel member type for the NS 3472:2001 code. It is activated by pressing the More button located in the Member definition - parameters dialog box.

These additional member parameters may be determined in the above dialog box:

  • Load parameters - pressing the icons opens an additional dialog box
  • section parameters: Ae/Ag and Avnet/Av ratios - these options are used to define proportions between the net area of a section with bolt openings and the gross area. These parameters are used in the program to determine the tensile capacity (12.2.3.1.) and/or the shear capacity of a section

The option in the lower part of the dialog box allows determining a method of thermal processing of RHS sections. If the option is switched on, the program treats RHS sections as hot-rolled sections. This information is used to determine the buckling curve of a compressed steel member according to Table 11.
