Create Joists or Joist Girders

Use the New Section dialog to create joists or joist girders.

1. Select the Steel/Aluminum Design layout from the list of layouts.
2. Click in the Structure model toolbar. Alternatively Geometry Properties Sections
3. Click in the New Section dialog.
4. Select Joist/Joist Girder from the Section type list. The content of the dialog updates to show the Database and Parametric tabs.
5. Click one the three icons to select which type of section you want to create.
   • Click to create any type of joist or joist girder.
   • Click to create a joist.
   • Click to create a joist girder.
   Some elements of the dialog automatically update depending on the type of section selected.
6. Set up the parameters for your section, and then go to the Parametric tab.
7. Set up the parametric parameters for your section, and then click Add.
8. Close the New Section dialog. The new section is listed in the Sections dialog.
