Cost estimate

Select Tools > Cost estimate to estimate costs of the designed structure.

To obtain a detailed cost estimate define certain groups of sections. In general, steel sections have different prices, depending on the section type.

  • Groups - Contains the list of created section groups
  • Protection - Contains the list of created layers protecting against corrosion and chemical impact, or providing the structure with an aesthetic aspect (such as zinc coating, anti-corrosion paint, and varnishing).

To the right of the dialog are sets of buttons for Group parameters and Protection parameters. Each set consists of the following:

  • New - Create and define the parameters of a new group (Group parameters) or protection layer (Protection parameters).
  • Change - Edit the parameters of a group or protection layer.
  • Delete - Delete the group or protection layer.

When defined, ascribe sections to appropriate groups.

  1. Select a section.
  2. Select a previously defined group.
  3. Select a previously defined protection layer.
  4. Transfer the section to the right-hand panel by means of the following controls.

    >

Adds the section selected in the left-hand panel to the right-hand panel.

    >>

Adds all the sections from the left-hand panel to the list of sections in the right-hand panel containing all the element that will be covered by the cost estimate.

    <

Adds the section selected in the right-hand panel to the left-hand panel.

    <<

Moves all the sections from the right-hand panel to the left-hand panel.

Ascribing sections to appropriate groups and protection layers ends the process of estimating costs. The cost estimate is available by selecting the View > Tables command from the menu and selecting the Cost estimate option in the Tables - data and results dialog.

The table presents the following data on the Sections tab:

  • The first column contains all the sections.
  • The second column contains the name of the ascribed group.
  • The third column contains the name of the ascribed protection layer.
  • The fourth column contains the section mass.
  • The fifth column contains the price of the material.
  • The sixth column contains the price of transportation.
  • The seventh column contains the price (per kg or per m 2 ) of the ascribed protection layer.
  • The eighth column contains the total cost.

The Groups tab of the cost estimate table presents the same data as those listed above, but refer to the entire group and not to particular sections.
