New type of elastic ground

When you click the New elastic ground icon in the Elastic Ground - Bars dialog, the following dialog displays:

The dialog has the following tabs.

  • Elasticity tab

At the top of the dialog, the Label field lets you assign a label (name) for a new type of elastic ground. In the Elastic foundation coefficients field, you can specify the coefficient values of elastic ground in the appropriate directions of a local coordinate system. Specify the elastic foundation coefficients in the following units:

    • KY and KZ = force / length * length
    • HX = force * length / angle_measure * length.

Clicking Elastic foundation coefficients opens the Building soils - calculations of K Coefficient dialog, which serves as a calculator for computing the value of the elastic foundation coefficient K for a layered soil.

  • Unidirectional tab

At the top of the dialog, the Label field lets you assign a label (name) for a new type of elastic ground.

This tab lets you define the unidirectional uplift for local directions of the stiffness Ky and Kz:

    • Ky direction: None, Uy+, and Uy-
    • Kz direction: None, Uz+, and Uz-.
