Member Definition - Additional Parameters (BS 5950:2000)

The option is used to define additional code parameters of a steel member type for the British code BS 5950:2000. It becomes accessible by pressing the More button in the Member Definition - Parameters dialog box.

The following additional member parameters may be defined in the above dialog box:

  • values of coefficients of m moment distribution (after pressing the icons, the additional dialog box opens)
  • section parameters (Ae/Ag and Avnet/Av ratios) - the options are used to define the proportion between the net area (Anetto) of a section weakened by bolt openings and the gross area (Abrutto). These quantities are used in the program to determine section tension capacity (4.6.3) and/or shear capacity (6.2.3).

In the bottom part of the dialog box the thermal treatment method for RHS sections may be determined. If the option is switched on, the program treats RHS sections as hot-formed sections.
