Calculation of the equivalent elasticity of a support

Elasticity coefficients are calculated based on the following formulas:

  • KZ:

    k= A * E / L

  • KX, KY:

    - For a roller support: k= 0

    - For a pinned support: k = 3 * E * I / L^3

    - For a fixed support: k = 12 * E * I / L^3

  • HX, HY:

    - For a roller support: k= E * I / L

    - For a pinned support: k = 3 * E * I / L

    - For a fixed support: k = 4 * E * I / L

    Depending on a direction I = Iy or I = Iz.

    Note: If either the Column or Wall through two stories option is selected, k (k1 and k2)are added together.
  • HZ:

    k= G * Ix / L

    Where: G = E / (2*(1+v)).

    Note: If either the Column or Wall through two stories option is selected, k (k1 and k2)are added together.

For walls, the area, the moment of inertia for bending, and the torsional moment of inertia are used according to the assumptions for the elastic support.
