Troubleshoot common issues when working with Buildingbook.
Cannot calculate building part quantities
Possible causes:
There are no elements selected. Be sure your filter criteria are accurate.
Building parts are marked as Not Calculated
In some cases Buildingbook may be unable to calculate a building part. This can happen if the building part has invalid geometry, no geometry, or because of specific Revit API limitations.
Values inaccurately report
Project unit settings are likely incompatible. See
Project Settings.
- If no decimal positions are set, decimals will report as 0. For example, 0.10 will report as 0. Define the number of decimals.
- Decimal places are different. Revit allows to define different decimals for length, area and volume. Set the number of decimals to uniform values.
- Be sure rounding is set correctly for your needs.
Buildingbook data will not export to Excel
Possible causes:
- Excel export templates (*.xlt) are located in the wrong directory. Place them in the Export\Excel directory of the Buildingbook installation path.
- Excel must be installed for exporting to an Excel file.
- The export template was customized incorrectly or is corrupt. See About Excel Templates for Buildingbook.
- If the exported file is empty, be sure that elements are selected on the Calculate Building Part Quantities dialog. See Select Elements for Buildingbook Calculation.
