About Hosted Reference Points

In the conceptual design environment, reference point placed on an existing spline, line, edge, or surface is hosted and subject to the position of the host geometry.

The hosted point will move with and can move along the host element. By default, hosted points provide a work plane perpendicular to its host when placed on an edge or line.

Hosted points are placed along any of the following elements:

  • Model lines and reference lines, such as lines, arcs, ellipses, and splines (Bezier and Hermite)
  • Form element edges and surfaces, including planar, ruled, resolved, cylindrical, and Hermite
  • Joined form edges (geometry combination edges and surfaces)
  • Family instances (edges and surfaces)
Caution: If a host is deleted, hosted points are deleted as well.
