Understand BOM structural changes when switching between Effective date and As Saved filters

The following table describes how the BOM structure is impacted when you perform an operation on a BOM under the Effective date filter and then switch to the As Saved filter.

Create item Create a child item and its children is created under a parent item in Development. If the parent item is in Development then the newly created child item and its children are pulled into the BOM structure.
Create item You cannot create an item under a Released parent item. No changes to the BOM structure for a Released parent.
Copy/Paste Copy/Paste a child item under a parent in Development, the BOM structure maintains the original relationship and also has the new relationship with a copied instance of the child item under the parent. The BOM structure maintains the original relationship and also has the new relationship with a copied instance of the child item under the parent.
Copy/Paste You can copy any item without any restrictions however the paste operation is disallowed when the direct parent is Released. No changes to the BOM structure.
New version New versions of child items can be created if the direct parent is in Development. The new version of the item will be a part of the BOM structure.
New version You cannot create a new version of a child item under the Effective date filter when the direct parent is Released. No changes to the BOM structure.
