Perform BOM structural changes under the Effective date filter

You may perform these operations that result in BOM structural changes under the Effective date filter. The following table describes the conditions under which BOM structural changes are permitted; and if permitted, what the expected results are.

Note: The i icon indicates that an item only exists within the project’s Effective date.
Operation Conditions Result
more actions > New version
  1. Item is Released and without i icon.
  2. Item's direct-parent (without i icon) is in Development.
New version of the item is created without i icon.
more actions > New version
  1. Item with i icon is Released, or Released_External.
  2. Item's direct-parent (without i icon) is Released, or Released_External.
New version of the item is created with i icon.

The item exists outside of the BOM structure from which the New Version operation was performed.
more actions > New version
  1. Item's direct-parent is Obsolete.
  2. Item's direct-parent (with i icon ) is in Development.
You cannot create a New Version.
more actions > Create > Item
  1. Item's direct-parent (with or without i icon) is in Development.
New item is created.
more actions > Create > Item
  1. Item's direct-parent (with or without i icon) is Released, Released_External, or Obsolete.
Item cannot be created.
more actions > Paste

You can copy any item.
  1. Item's direct-parent (with or without i icon) is in Development.
You can paste.
more actions > Paste

You can copy any item.
  1. Item's direct-parent (with or without i icon) is Released, Released_External, or Obsolete.
You cannot paste.
Note: more actions > New Version has its own feature flag. You can request to have this operation enabled independently of more actions > Create > Item and Paste operations.
