Attributes

If you want to assign more information than name and value to a component in the board, you can do this with the Attribute tool.

Attributes can be defined in various documents. They can be defined in the:

• Library - the most portable and consistent option
• Schematic - these will be transferred to the 2D PCB and kept consistent
• 2D PCB - a separate set of attributes that do not transfer back to the schematic. Any attributes made directly in the 2D PCB document will only be in the 2D PCB.

Global attributes are valid for the whole board. They can be defined in the 2D PCB and schematic documents separately.
