Create rectangles

Learn how to use the 2-Point Rectangle, 3-Point Rectangle, and Center Rectangle tools to create different types of rectangles in an active sketch in Fusion.

Create a 2-Point Rectangle

Create a rectangle by placing 2 opposite corner points to define the position and size of the rectangle.

  1. On the Sketch contextual tab, select Create > Circle > 2-Point Rectangle 2-point rectangle icon.
  2. In the canvas, click to place the first corner point.
  3. Specify the size of the rectangle:
    • Click to place the opposite corner point.
    • Or specify the length, width, or both values, then click to place the rectangle.
  4. Optional: Repeat steps 2-3 to create another rectangle.
  5. Press Enter to complete the tool.

The rectangles, and any construction geometry, constraints, and dimensions that are added to them, display in the canvas.

Create a 3-Point Rectangle

Create a rectangle by placing 3 corner points to define the position and size of the rectangle.

  1. On the Sketch contextual tab, select Create > Circle > 3-Point Rectangle 3-point rectangle icon.
  2. In the canvas, click to place the first corner point.
  3. Specify the length of the rectangle:
    • Click to place the second corner point.
    • Or specify the length value, then click to place the second point.
  4. Specify the width of the rectangle:
    • Click to place the third corner point.
    • Or specify the width value, then click to place the third point.
  5. Optional: Repeat steps 2-4 to create another rectangle.
  6. Press Enter to complete the tool.

The rectangles, and any construction geometry, constraints, and dimensions that are added to them, display in the canvas.

Create a Center Rectangle

Create a rectangle by placing the center point and a corner point to define the position and size of the rectangle.

  1. On the Sketch contextual tab, select Create > Circle > Center Rectangle center rectangle icon.
  2. In the canvas, click to place the center point.
  3. Specify the length and width of the rectangle:
    • Click to place the corner point.

Tips

  • In the Sketch Palette dialog, in the Feature Options section, you can switch between Rectangle types while any rectangle tool is active.
  • As you move the mouse cursor, object snap symbols display near the geometry when you snap to the sketch grid or other geometry in the design. If you snap to a specific point, the logical constraints are automatically added to the sketch.
