gbXML Model Geometry

Process of exporting gbXML model geometry from Autodesk Revit Architecture and Autodesk Revit MEP and other third party authoring tools and importing to GBS.

Green Building Studio can read any valid gbXML file, whether from Revit, Vasari or other comparable BIM tools. The gbXML file contains all of the heating and cooling information for a project according to the gbXML file structure which is based on a gbXML schema. The gbXML schema was created to help building designers get information about the energy consumption characteristics of their building projects.

Note: Refer to gbXML Schema Support for more information about gbXML elements and attributes that are supported by Revit. You can also visit http://www.gbxml.org for more information about the gbXML schema. See Energy Analysis Model to understand how the energy model is created.

In Green Building Studio you can either create a new project and upload the gbXML file as its base run , or you can upload the gbXML file as a base run for an existing project.

Note: In order to create a new base run for an existing project Select your project from My Project Tab   open Action dropdown menu Upload gbXML File (Create a Base Run)   Browse the gbXML file and Upload. You can view your building in 3D using the VRML link to check that it is correct. Green building will automatically run the simulation and you can view the results in Run List Tab.
