The Column Properties dialog box is used to define name, caption, expression, or mapping for a column in the family table.
Access: In Content Center Editor, right-click a part family and select Family Table. In the Family Table dialog box, right-click a column heading and choose Column Properties from the menu.
Column Name |
Edits or displays the name of the column. The column name is read-only for any existing columns. Only when a new column is created, the column name field is read/write. The Name must start with a letter and can contain letters, numbers, and underscores. |
Column Caption |
Edits the caption of the column. |
Data Type |
Sets the type of column data. |
Units |
Sets units for the column data. If the column is mapped to a Category Property, you can select the available units from a box. Otherwise, you can enter any valid Autodesk Inventor unit expression. |
Expression |
Defines an expression or values for the column. Select the Expression check box to enable the edit box. |
Expression Column |
The value entered in the edit box becomes the value for every cell in the column. The expression cannot contain the name of the column that the expression is in. Click next to the edit box to open list of Parameter Names and Descriptions. Double-click a parameter to insert it into the Expression edit box. |
Custom Column |
Click next to the edit box to open the Specify Range dialog box. Note: If you define a custom column, specify the value when placing a library part in assembly.

Map to Autodesk Inventor Properties |
Maps the column to a specific Autodesk Inventor iProperty. Select the property from the list. |
Customer Properties Name |
Specifies a name for a custom property. |
Geometric Parameter |
Indicates that the column is a geometric value that drives the part geometry. |
