Cable Wire Properties

Adds, modifies, and removes properties on selected cable wire occurrences, and assigns or removes virtual parts.

Access:

With an active harness assembly, right-click a cable wire occurrence, and then select Harness Properties.

Occurrence Tab

Displays the properties for the cable wire occurrence. For spare cable wires, only the Wire ID can be changed.

Wire ID

Displays and changes the Wire ID for cable wires. The Wire ID is the unique name for the wire occurrence within the assembly. It is also the name used in the browser. Initially, the Wire ID for spare cable wires is blank, but it can be changed. The Wire ID does not change if a terminated wire is disconnected.

Length

Displays the current cable wire length.

Adjusted Length

Displays the length, plus the value of the property that affects it. For example, if the Service Loop property exists for a segment through which the cable is routed, the length is adjusted accordingly and displayed here.

Cable ID

Displays the ID for the cable the cable wire is associated to.

Conductor ID

Displays the ID for the cable wire from the library definition.

Radius of smallest bend

Displays the radius of the smallest bend in the path of a routed cable wire or unrouted cable wire with work points. It is associated to the current geometric shape of the cable wire.

Adjusted Outer Diameter

When a loom is assigned, displays the outer diameter of the cable wire with the loom attached. When a loom is not assigned, it displays the outer diameter from the cable wire's library definition.

Bend radius

Sets the bend radius multiplier or displays the value of the bend radius factor set in the library wire definition or the value set at the occurrence level.

Library Bend Radius

When bend radius is replaced by the occurrence, displays the initial bend radius set on the library cable wire.

Display

Default Display

Sets rendered or centerline display for the selected cable wire.

Centerline

Rendered

Appearance From Loom

Sets whether to display the cable wire using the appearance from the loom or from the cable wire.

List of attached looms

Displays the order in which the loom is placed when multiple looms are attached to the selected cable wire. Loom order is set when the loom is created or when modifying wire or segment properties. A loom order of 1, means the loom is the first loom placed on the harness object. The order of the loom also determines the size of the loom to attach.

Click a loom in the list, and then click the appropriate arrow to increase or decrease the order of placement.

General tab

Name

Displays the library name of the selected cable wire.

Category

Displays the category in which the library wire is organized, if applicable.

Part Number

Displays the part number for the selected cable wire.

Outer Diameter

Displays the outer diameter for the selected cable wire.

Gauge

Displays the gauge for the selected cable wire.

Core Size

Displays the core size for the selected cable wire as a diameter.

From/To tab

Provides links to the properties for the pins and connectors at each end of the cable wire.

From

Provides links to the properties for the pin and connector for the first cable wire end.

Wire Pin Name Name of the cable wire pin (end) attached to the connector pin. Properties shows read-only Pin Name from the part definition. Occurrence level custom properties can be added.

RefDes Name of the reference designator for the connector to which the cable wire is attached. Properties shows the read-only properties from the part along with the RefDes property, which can be modified.

Connector Pin Name Name of the pin on the connector to which the selected cable wire is attached. Properties shows read-only Pin Name from the part definition. Occurrence level custom properties can be added.

To

Provides links to the properties for the pin and connector for the second cable wire end.

Virtual parts tab

Type

Selects the type of virtual part, such as terminal or loom.

Category

Selects the category in which the desired virtual part is located (optional). The last selection becomes the new default.
