File Naming Options dialog box

Use File Naming Options dialog box to set the file name scheme for all families with a Category.

The file name scheme can be created or edited only for a Read/Write enabled categories and families. To make a category Read/Write enabled, right-click the category, choose Copy To, and select a Read/Write enabled library from the list.

Note: If you use libraries stored on a Vault server, you must have editing permissions. Log in to your server to change the file name scheme.

Access:

Click Manage tab Content Center panel Editor to display the Content Center Editor dialog box. Select a read/write library in the Library View list. Then right-click a Category and select Family Naming.

File Name Expression

In the File Naming Options dialog box, enter an expression in the File Name Expression text box:

  • Click next to the edit box to display the list of available parameters for the Category. Double-click a parameter to insert it in the file name scheme.
  • If appropriate, enter allowed characters (separators, and so on).
    Note: The following characters cannot be used in the file name scheme: \ / : * ? " < > | & { } [ ] %

Add to existing

If selected, the File Name Expression is added as a prefix or suffix to the original file name.

As prefix adds the expression as a prefix of the file name.

As suffix adds the expression as a suffix of the file name.
