Rolling and sliding joint properties - parameters tab

Access:

In the Dynamic Simulation browser, right-click an appropriate rolling or sliding joint , and select Properties. Click the Parameters tab.

All rolling and sliding joints, except the belt joint, have parameters. These parameters are similar for all but the screw and worm gear joint. This topic describes the parameters available for all other rolling and sliding joints:

Radius

You can change the radius only by adjusting the model geometry.

  • Component 1 radius

Displays the radius of the first component selected during joint insertion.

  • Component 2 radius

Displays the radius of the second component selected during joint insertion.

Angles

  • Pressure

Sets the angle between the pressure line and the tangent line.

  • Helix

Sets the complementary angle between the centerline of the helical teeth and the pitch plane.

Loads
  • Efficiency

Sets the mechanical efficiency for the joint. Valid inputs are between 0.001 (no efficiency) and 1.00 (perfect efficiency).
