Material Guide (Panel 6) - Material Differentiator

The differentiator is added to the File Name to distinguish between instanced family members with different materials. For the Create New Families option, the differentiator is added also to the Family Name to distinguish between new and original families. You can choose additional properties to add the differentiator to

Access:

Click Manage tab Content Center panel Editor to open the Content Center Editor dialog box. Then locate the category, family, or families to add materials and do one of the following:
  • Select a category, right-click, and click Material Guide.
  • Select families (or one family), right-click, and click Material Guide.
  • Select a family, right-click, and select Family Table. In the Family Table dialog box, select family members (rows) to add material to, right-click, and click Material Guide.

As differentiator use

Material Name selects the Material string to be used as a differentiator.

Material Alias selects the Material Alias string to be used as a differentiator.

Add as

Suffix adds the differentiator at the end of the formula for the family property.

Prefix adds the differentiator at the beginning of the formula for the family property.

Add to

Family Name indicates if the differentiator is added to the Family Name property. The option is always unavailable and is selected when creating new families for new materials.

Family Description adds the differentiator to the Family Description property. The option is available only when you create new families for new materials.

File Name indicates that the differentiator is added to the File Name property. The option is always unavailable and selected.

Part Number adds the differentiator to the Part Number property.

Review

Displays the Review dialog box. Click to review details of the edited or created families, or to edit expressions for family properties that include the differentiator.
