Getting started (tutorial)

In this tutorial you will learn how to use Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Adviser. You will modify your workspace, import a model, run a basic analysis and then assess the suitability of your model using the analysis results.

The panel-based user interface is designed to help you create, organize and manipulate studies within a project easily. Use the configurable workspace options to customize the workspace appearance to best suit your needs.

You will use the Advanced workspace, which is installed by default.

Note: Throughout this tutorial it is assumed that metric units are used.
To change units:
  1. Select Application button > Options.
  2. Select General tab.
  3. Select Metric units from the Active units drop-down menu.
  4. Click OK.

    Create a study by importing a model into your project.
  3. Manipulating the model
    Use the tools on the Navigate panel of the View tab to manipulate the view of the model. These tools are also found on the Navigation bar, or the SteeringWheels which are located in the model window.

    Run a Fill+Pack analysis and learn how to use the Summary pane.
  6. Viewing results
    View the results of the Fill+Pack analysis, and use the Results Adviser to provide specific information about the results.

    Create a copy of your study, add two injection locations, run a Fill+Pack analysis, and then compare the results with the study that has one injection location.
