Tutorial 3 demonstrates the use of the linear elastic functionality in Helius PFA. Follow the instructions to create and analyze a simple composite plate with MSC Nastran.
Define the Load
Create a second boundary condition to impose a vertical displacement along the top surface of the plate.
Prepare the Analysis
Define a load step, modify nonlinear solution controls, and add the commands necessary for use with Helius PFA
Define a User Material
Define the material response of the IM7_8552 composite in the bulk data file.
Complete the Bulk Data File
Before the analysis is completed, we must remove some of the unnecessary entries in the bulk data file and modify the SUBCASE.
Submit for Analysis
Use the command shell to submit the bulk data file for analysis.
View and Interpret Results
In this step, the Helius PFA state variable outputs are viewed and discussed.
Summary Helius PFA was used to generate matrix and fiber failure indices for each integration point in a composite plate.
