To Participate in an Inventor Design Share as a Collaborator

When using Inventor Connected Design, you can have a different role: Owner or collaborator. An owner is the person who creates, shares, and manages the Design Share. A collaborator is a person who can view the Design Share, view comments, and post comments. Each role determines what you can and cannot do when collaborating on a Design Share.

Collaborators

Inventor is not needed to participate in Inventor Connected Design on A360. All collaborators can view the Design Share, view and post comments on your A360 drive.

Collaborators that have Inventor 2016 R3 or Inventor 2017 and are signed in to A360 in Inventor:

• Receive a notification that they have been added to the Design Share in their Connected Design on A360 panel in Inventor.
• Can view Design Share events in the Connected Design on A360 panel in Inventor.
• Have access to the Design Share via the Connected Design on A360 panel in Inventor and on your A360 drive..
• Can access the Design Share where they can view the Design Share, and view and post comments.

To participate in an Inventor Design Share as a collaborator for the first time

Before you can participate in a Design Share, you must first click the link in the email requesting your collaboration on an Inventor Design Share to accept the invitation to collaborate. Bookmark the link for easy access to the Design Share on your A360 drive.

Note: If you do not have an A360 account, you are prompted by A360 to create a username and password the first time you try to access the Design Share.

To participate in a Design Share on your A360 drive

1. Go to your A360 drive: The SHARED WITH ME section displays links to all Design Shares that are shared with you. Alternately, to access the Design Share on your A360 drive, click the link in the email requesting your collaboration on an Inventor Design Share.
2. On your A360 drive, double-click the name of the Design Share to open the Design Share in the A360 viewing window.

   

To participate in a Design Share in Inventor R2017 or R2016 R3

1. In a part or assembly file, click the Connected Design entry button located by default in the bottom right corner of the graphics window.
   Note: If the Connected Design entry button is not visible, refer to Turn On/Off Connected Design on A360 to turn the Connected Design entry button back on.
2. In the Connected Design on A360 panel, locate the Design Share you want to collaborate on, and click the Design Share name.

   In Inventor 2017, the Design Share opens in Inventor in the viewing window.

   In Inventor 2016 R3, the Design Share opens in a new browser window.

3. In the Inventor viewing window (Inventor 2017), the browser window (Inventor 2016), and your A360 drive viewing window, you can view the Design Share and post comments.
Note: displays in the bottom right of the graphics window to signal a new event.
