Introduction

A good mesh provides a balance of precision and computation time. Quality meshes converge quickly, produce accurate results, and do not produce errors. There are a number of settings affecting the meshing process. In addition, there are specialized tools used for the following purposes:

• Manual or automatic local or global mesh refinement
• Creating connections between parts of an assembly (joints or bolts)
• Specifying node locations (construction vertices)
• Finding the centroids of selected areas and optionally connecting them with line elements (centroid creator)
