To Edit 3D Geometry with the Line Sections Palette

You can edit the 3D geometry of underground ducts with the Line Sections palette. Unlike the Transition Points palette, which can work on a segment containing ducts, the Line Sections palette can only edit one duct at a time.

To edit a duct

  1. On the command line, enter AUDLINESECTION to open the Line Sections palette.
  2. Click the Select the line button , and then select a duct in the drawing. If a segment is selected, it will list all the contained ducts and prompt to select one.

Each row in the Line Sections palette represents one section. Clicking on one row will highlight the section (in yellow) in 3D view.

  3. To create a new straight section, select an existing straight section, right click and select "Split selected section", the selected section will be split into two.
  4. To edit a straight section, modify its Length, Slope Angle, and Elevation Change.

The changes can be previewed (in green) in 3D view, but won't be updated in the database until the Apply button is clicked.

  5. To create an arc section, select an existing section, right click and select Add an Arc Section Below.

The Bend Angle will default to the angle between the two sections before and after the arc.

  6. To edit an arc section, modify its Bend Angle and Bend Radius.

The Bend Angle combo box lists all the angles of the sweep models configured in the Industry Model Configuration dialog, while the Bend Radius combo box lists all the radius values of the sweep models configured in the same dialog. You can choose a value from the list or specify a value as needed.

  7. To delete a section, right click it and select Remove Selected Section.
  8. Click Apply to save any changes.

Sweep handler will generate sweeps for the added arc sections with the specified bend radius and angle.

  9. Click Cancel to deselect a duct and discard any changes.
  10. To reset a duct to its original geometry, click the Reset the Line button .
  11. To edit a duct in reverse direction, click the Reverse the Line button .
