There are a number of tools available to help you migrate custom settings between releases or to transfer settings from one computer to another.
Several tools are provided to help you migrate your custom settings to a new release, or to transfer them from one computer to another.
Tools for Migrating Custom Settings From Previous Releases
Use the following tools to migrate custom settings and files from a previous release to the current release.
-
Migrate Custom Settings Utility. Migrates user profiles, customization (CUIx) files, tool palette (ATC) files, user-defined linetype (LIN) files, hatch pattern (PAT) files, program parameter (PGP) files which contain command aliases, and custom materials. (AutoCAD LT does not support user profiles or materials.)
-
Customize User Interface (CUI) Editor. Migrates selected custom interface elements from one CUIx file to another CUIx file. The CUI Editor can be used to convert legacy menu (MNU and MNS) and legacy customization (CUI) files to the CUIx format, while leaving the original source files unchanged.
- Advanced Tools. Provides additional migration tools available from the Autodesk website, including the following:
-
DWG TrueView. Converts DWG files from one drawing file format to another. You can also use the DWGCONVERT command from within the program.
-
ScriptPro. Runs a script file on a set of drawings. (Not available for AutoCAD LT.)
-
AutoLISP Compatibility Analyzer. Details compatibility issues found in AutoLISP source (LSP) files and AutoLISP menu (MNL) files. When a compatibility issue is found, the tool provides an explanation of the issue and suggestions for correcting it. (AutoCAD LT does not support AutoLISP.)
Tip: Migrate your custom settings and files as soon as possible after installing a new release of the program to avoid overwriting any new customization.
Tools for Transferring Custom Settings Between Computers
Use the following tools to transfer custom settings and files between computers with the same release of the program.
- Sync My Settings. Synchronizes your custom settings and files with your Autodesk A360 account. Once synchronized, your custom settings and files can be downloaded to another computer when you are logged into your Autodesk A360 account.
- Export/Import Settings. Creates a transfer package that contains your custom settings and files which can be imported on another computer. The Export Settings tool can also be used to backup your custom settings and files.
- Options Dialog Box. Exports and imports user profiles between different computers. (AutoCAD LT does not support user profiles.)
- Customize User Interface (CUI) Editor. Transfers individual custom user interface elements between CUIx files.
