Drawings that combine raster and vector data are called hybrid drawings. This tutorial covers some of the most common activities in hybrid drawings:
- Scaling images and correlating images to vector objects in a drawing
- Adding vector objects to images of scanned drawings
- Editing raster geometry in the image
- Converting raster geometry to vector
- Converting vector objects to raster
- Saving the modified image as a new image
When using AutoCAD Raster Design toolset, you can decide which method to use to update an image based on factors such as the following:
- The quality and readability of the raster data in an image.
- The complexity and amount of change required.
- The anticipated use of an image.
- The projected need for future updates.
The exercises in this tutorial use a scanned drawing of a floor plan for a school building. Your objective is to update this image with the following revisions:
- Create a new entrance to the building.
- Add classrooms.
- Replace a staircase with an access ramp for the physically disabled.
Other areas of the floor plan do not change. These areas can remain in raster format.
