Use the Wireframe Profile strategy to cut to the left, or right, of a 3D curve. This is similar to wireframe swarf machining and 2D curve profiling: PowerMill creates a toolpath that cuts with the side of the tool as it follows the curve.
Surfaces are not required for this strategy, only a 3D curve.
The pages associated with the Wireframe Profile Finishing strategy are:
-
Wireframe profile finishing — The main page used to define a wireframe profile toolpath.
-
Gouge avoidance — Settings to determine what happens to the wireframe profile toolpath when a surface prevents machining at the lowest position.
-
Multiple cuts — Settings to enable multiple passes down the tool axis.
-
High speed — Settings to improve the smoothness of the toolpath.
-
Automatic verification — Settings to automatically verify the toolpath when calculating it.
The remaining pages are common toolpath strategy pages.
