Working with views

To create and edit objects, or select objects and key points in views, the view must be active.

To activate a view:

  1. Right-click in the view.
  2. From the context menu, select Active. The view displays a thick red border around it to show it is active.

You can also use the Edit View dialog to activate a view.

  3. To deactivate the view, deselect Active.
Note: If you delete an object from an active view, it is also deleted from the model and any view that contains it.

To create objects in a view:

  1. Activate the view.
  2. Create objects, for example use the options on the Wireframe tab > Create panel.

The objects are created in the 3D model, not on the drawing sheet. To edit these objects later, the view must be active. You can also edit these objects in the model window.

If the Add model items option is selected in the Viewpage of the Options dialog, the object is only displayed in the active view. If the option is deselected, the object is displayed in the model and the other views on the drawing.

You can use objects in the model. For example, snap to key points of objects in the model, and create composite curves using the model.

To remove objects from a view:

  1. Activate the view.
  2. Select the objects in the view you wish to remove.
  3. Click View tab > Visibility panel > Blanking > Blank Selected.

The objects are removed from the view, but not from the model.
