Constrain Standard Rebar

Place standard rebar shapes that snap to adjacent standard rebar. The constraint remains when you place, move, drag, or copy and paste rebar.

  1. Click Structure tab Reinforcement panel (Rebar).
  2. Click Modify | Place Rebar tab Constraints panel (Constrained Placement).
  3. In either the Rebar Shape Selector on the Options Bar or the Rebar Shape Browser, select a standard rebar shape. Stirrup and tie rebar cannot be constrained on placement.
  4. Place rebar in a concrete host. The rebar will snap and attach to other standard rebar. Note that standard rebar placed parallel in a view will snap to other parallel standard rebar as well.
Note: Constrained placement can only be used for single rebar placement.
  5. Once placed, you can move, cut and paste, or change the type of the rebar to which the new rebar was constrained. The constrained rebar moves and adjusts accordingly as shown in the examples below.
Cut and paste Increase type size

To remove the placement constraints, select a constrained rebar and click Modify | Structural Rebar Rebar Constraints (Edit Constraints) and assign new targets to the desired handles.
