Customize the Vault Server Installation for a Single Site

You can customize the Vault Server installation for single site deployment, allowing you to configure Vault for a Proxy Server or for a remote connection.

Note: Refer to the Distributed Teams installation section for more information on replication, installing Vault for multi-site environments, and configuring workgroups.

If you are installing Autodesk Vault for the first time, then the Quick Start Installation is the fastest way to get set up so that you can begin managing your design data.

Steps for Customizing Vault Server for a Single Site

Follow the steps in this section to perform your custom Autodesk Vault Server installation. Refer to Customize the Autodesk Vault Client Installation after you are done configuring your Vault Server installation.

Tip: All design environments are unique. If you have any questions about the best Vault solution for your environment, we recommend that you contact Autodesk Account or speak with a trained Autodesk partner to help you select the best Vault configuration for your company needs.
  1. Install and Configure Licensing.
Note: This step is only necessary if you are using Autodesk Vault Workgroup or Professional. If you are using Autodesk Vault Basic, skip to Step 2.
  2. Pre-Install Microsoft SQL Server. If Microsoft SQL Server 20xx is not already installed, the installation package will automatically install Microsft SQL 20xx Express. You can pre-install Microsoft SQL Server 20xx if you require more capacity or have a customized environment for your SQL database.
  3. Install the Autodesk Vault Server.
Note: See Install Supporting Components for more information about installing other applications that integrate with Vault.

Once you are done with the installation, you can determine if you want to configure Vault for a proxy server or set up a remote Vault connection.
