If you are placing elements on nodes and find it difficult discerning division nodes and intersection nodes, you can temporarily remove the division nodes to isolate the nodes of intersection.
- Select the divided path.
- Click Modify | Divided Path tab
Divisions and Intersects panel 
(Layout). Nodes of division are removed from the path. A path must have at least two segments (one node) to remain divided. If intersects have not been applied to the path, you will not be able to use the Layout tool.
- Click (Layout) again to display the nodes of division.
