Divide a Surface by Intersecting References

In the conceptual design environment, divide a surface by referencing intersecting 3D levels, reference planes, and curves drawn on reference planes.

Video: Dividing Surfaces
  1. Add the necessary Levels and reference planes. If necessary, draw curves on work planes parallel to the form.
  2. Select the surface to be intersected. If you are unable to select a surface, enable the Select Elements by Face option.
  3. Click Modify | FormDivide panel (Divide Surface).
  4. Disable the UV Grids.
  5. Click Modify | Form UV Grids and Intersects panel (Intersects).
  6. Select all levels, reference planes, and curves sketched on reference planes that will divide the surface.
  7. Click Modify | FormUV Grids and Intersects panel (Finish). Otherwise, click (Cancel) to ignore the selected references and exit the Intersects tool.

Removing levels or planes will remove the corresponding divisions on the surface.
