Snap Settings

Sets object snaps to User Settings, System Settings, or Suppress Object Snaps.

User Settings

Enables snap modes selected in the Power Snap Settings dialog box and disables the snap modes assigned to AutoCAD commands.

System Settings

Enables the snap modes assigned to AutoCAD commands in addition to snap modes selected in the Power Snap Settings dialog box. When these commands are used, the assigned snap modes are automatically activated.

Suppress Object Snaps

Disables all object snaps.

Snap Defaults button

Displays the Power Snap dialog box for setting snap modes, polar snap, or filters for object snaps. The setting you make in this dialog box is saved in the registry.

Administration Tools

Sets preferences when no predefined administrator configuration exists.

Automatic Update of Local Settings

Reads the administrator configuration file, and automatically updates the windows registry every time AutoCAD Mechanical toolset starts. This option is not available unless the AdminCfgPath registry entry has been set.

System button

Displays the System Editor dialog box to enable you to view and edit settings saved in the Windows registry.

Import button

Displays the Open dialog box. Setting affects all tabs in the Options dialog box. You can browse to a location to import any of these file types: drawing files (.dwg), template drawings (.dwt), and configuration files (.cfg).

Export button

Exports system settings (settings saved in the windows registry) to a CFG file. Does not export settings marked with a drawing icon.

File Safety Precautions

Controls the auditing and saving of drawing files.

Enable UCS per View

Controls whether each viewport has a unique UCS.

Object Selection Tooltip

Shows a tooltip when you use power commands and move the cursor over an object.

Dynamic Object Selection

Highlights applicable objects as you move the cursor to select objects, when you use mechanical commands (commands that begins with AM).

Turn off Layers for Hidden Objects

Turns off layers assigned to the “behind” object (typically AM_9, AM_9N and AM_INV) at the time they are created. This setting has no impact on layers that are already created.

Preserve Translation Information

Instructs system to store translation information with objects, at the time they are created. For example, when this option is enabled, title blocks created with the AMTITLE command contain information about the multi language dictionary (.mld) files that contain title block specific translation strings. If the option is not selected, during language conversion, title block text is treated as user-defined text and are translated using the dictionaries set up for user-defined text.

Make Predefined Hatches Associative

Turns associativity on or off. Associative hatches update automatically when changes are made to predefined hatches.

Synchronize Browser with Modes

Switches browser tabs when modes are changed.

Dialog Controls

Opens the Dialog Controls dialog box, where you control settings for recent values and spinner controls.

Show Messages

Opens the Show Messages dialog box. You use this dialog box to control whether Message dialog boxes appear when you edit external files or open files with bills of materials and balloons from earlier releases.
