Themes allow you to display a particular parameter graphically on the GeoPlan Window.
GeoPlan themes are accessed by right-clicking on the GeoPlan and selecting Properties & Themes from the popup menu. This displays the GeoPlan Properties dialog, opened on the Layers and Themes page.
Themes and contour plots of many different types of data can be displayed on the GeoPlan Window. The chosen parameters can be a static network parameter with a fixed display or a results parameter during a replay of a simulation. For time varying results parameters, the display will be continually updated during the course of the replay.
It is also possible to display SQL expressions by themes, which can be used for viewing differences in results between two simulations.
You can set up themes for any node, link, subcatchment or polygon parameter. Contour plots of mapping data from a ground model can also be displayed.
Themes may be created and saved in ICMLive Configuration Manager, InfoWorks ICM Ultimate or in ICMLive Operator Client. Themes are associated with a Manifest object by adding them to the Default Theme or the Theme list in the Display Options tab of the manifest.
When viewing simulations in ICMLive Operator Client, themes associated with the current manifest deployment can be selected for display from the Display Window of the Network Page.
It is also possible to display SQL expressions by themes.
See the Managing Themes and GeoPlan Properties - Layers and Themes page topics for details on how to create, edit, delete or save themes.
Available themes can be divided into four groups. These groups contain object layers/network objects sharing the same theme attributes.
Theme |
Description |
---|---|
Point / Node |
Display the value of a parameter using the size and colour of the point / node symbol. Circles are also available. Valid for the following object layers - node, and for InfoWorks networks only, 2D point source, and 2D result point. During replays of a simulation, flooding at a node can be indicated on the GeoPlan Window by a number of flooding circles. |
Line / Link |
Display the value of a parameter using the size, colour, line colour, style and width of the object symbol. Arrows are also available for most of these themes. Valid for the following object layers in an InfoWorks network - conduit, bank line, culvert inlet, culvert outlet, flap valve, flume, orifice, pump, screen, siphon, sluice, user control, weir, irregular weir, pruned link, channel, general line, base linear structure, sluice linear structure, porous wall, 2D boundary, cross section line, 2D line source, results section and 2D line connect. Valid for the following object layers in a SWMM network - conduit, orifice, pump, weir, general line, porous wall, 2D boundary, and outlet. During a simulation, the flow or velocity in a link can be indicated on the GeoPlan Window or Long Section Window by a number of arrows. Note: Theme settings for bridge sections, river sections and river banks are available in the Elements tab of the GeoPlan Properties dialog. Please refer to
GeoPlan Properties - Elements Page for further details.
|
Polygon |
Display the value of a parameter using the size, colour, line colour, style, width, fill colour and type of the object symbol. Valid for the following object layers - polygon, porous polygon, subcatchment, 2D zone, mesh polygon and roughness zone, and for InfoWorks networks only, 2D IC zone, Results polygon, bridge, river reach, storage area and building. Note: Theme settings for bridge sections, river sections and river banks are available in the Elements tab of the GeoPlan Properties dialog. Please refer to
GeoPlan Properties - Elements Page for further details.
Two additional themes that can be used to monitor changes in values during a simulation replay, are provided by default for 2D zones :
Please refer to the Special themes for 2D Zones section of the Layer Theme Editor topic for further details on these two themes. |
Contour |
Display the value of a parameter using the colour and fill of an object attribute. Valid for the following object layers : ground model and flood.

Current themes can be saved as Defaults for the current network or for all networks of the same type.
The settings you have made on the GeoPlan Properties dialog or the Layer Theme Editor (accessible via the Edit button in the Theme column of the Layers and Themes page of the GeoPlan Properties dialog) will become the default settings respectively for the same network or for future GeoPlan Windows.
Both options are available from the GeoPlan Properties dialog- Layers and Themes page.
See the Reverting to GeoPlan Properties and Theme factory settings section of the Managing Themes topic for detailed information.
