Define the Model Elevation

After specifying advanced geolocation for use in a Forma scenario, you may also need to define the model elevation so contextual data displays correctly.

With advanced geolocation, elevation data in the DWG file is not used by Revit. In addition, Revit does not use the elevation scale factor nor the rotation angle to North, if specified.

Without a defined elevation, Revit may not display ordered contextual data at the correct location. For example, suppose you order terrain data whose elevation is set at 400 meters, but your Revit model is at 0 elevation. You won't be able to see both models at the same level.

To complete the advanced geolocation information for the model, define the model elevation as follows.

As an alternative, you can define the elevation using the Specify Coordinates at Point tool.

To define the model elevation

  1. In the Revit model, open the site plan view, or display the survey point in the desired view.
  2. Select the survey point.
  3. If the survey point is clipped, click to unclip it.

The survey point's values display in the drawing area and in the Properties palette.

  4. For Elev, enter the desired elevation value.
  5. Click the icon to clip the survey point again.
  6. To confirm changes to the elevation, click Manage tab > Project Location panel > (Location).

The Location tab on the Location and Site dialog displays details of the geolocation currently assigned to the model, including elevation.

  7. Optional: Rotate True North if needed.
