To design your model within its real-world context, you can reference contextual data and models from other Forma applications that have been added to the scenario.
When displayed, the reference data can be used during the planning and design process. It can also be used to improve accuracy during Forma sustainability analyses. You can choose the data sets to display in views and define their display settings.
If you need to incorporate a contextual data set into the Revit model and make changes to it, convert it to native Revit elements instead. For example, if you added terrain to the scenario and want to adjust the terrain around a building, convert the terrain to a toposolid.
The Manage Scenarios panel lists the current Revit model as well as other models in the scenario, including other Revit models, models from other Forma applications, and contextual data sets. All models that are not Revit models are treated as coordination models. Coordination models are lightweight representations that provide context for your Revit model.
The following instructions assume you have already taken steps to connect to a scenario and order contextual data.
To update reference data in a scenario
- Open the model in Revit.
- Click Collaborate tab > Manage Models panel >
(Manage Scenarios).
- Click Update Scenario

This button displays only when there are available changes to the scenario.
To control the display of reference data in a view
- Open the view where you want to see reference data.
- Type VG or click View tab > Graphics panel >
(Visibility/Graphics).
- Click the Coordination Models tab.
- To display a coordination model in the view, select its check box.
To hide a coordination model in the view, clear its check box.
- To change the visibility of a displayed coordination model, for Colors or Transparency, click Override. Change the settings as desired, and click OK.
