The Tool Library is a centralized location where you can manage all your machining tools and their cutting data presets. In the Tool Library, there are different types of libraries. These libraries can contain tool definitions, other libraries, and folders for organization.
Fusion categorizes the various libraries into three main types: standard tool libraries, personal tool libraries, and the Documents library.
Standard tool libraries include the Fusion Library and the Vendor libraries. These libraries contain read-only tools provided by Autodesk and manufacturing vendors respectively. Standard tools are a good choice for most applications. The tools meet the tool requirements specified by the standard organizations, such as the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
You can copy tools from a standard tool library to a personal tool library so that you can use them and edit them.
Fusion Library contains read-only tools provided by Autodesk. It includes a wide range of common tools, and tool holders, for various manufacturing processes, including milling, hole making, turning, cutting, probing, and directed energy deposition (DED).
Vendor libraries contain read-only tools provided by various online tooling manufacturers. The library expands the range of tools available to you and can be useful if you have a specific tool requirement.
Personal tool libraries include the Cloud library and the Local library. These libraries contain tools that you create or import into Fusion or copy from a standard tool library.
Cloud library contains tools stored online. By storing your tools in the cloud, you can access them from other devices with an internet connection, enabling collaboration with others.
Local library contains tools saved locally on your computer. This ensures offline access to your tools.
The Documents library enables you to store and modify tools that you use for the operations in the current design.
A default library is automatically created in the Documents library when you open a new design in Fusion. It contains tools that you:
Select when setting up your operations. When you select a tool from a standard or personal library, the tool is copied to the Documents library where you can modify it.
Copy from standard or personal libraries. For new documents, you may want to select your tools first. It is common to analyze the features of the part model and select tools from standard or personal libraries.
The default library is available to the current document. You can copy tools to a personal library to make them available for all your designs.
