Nest components for manufacture

Fusion Manufacturing Extension

This feature is part of an extension. Extensions are a flexible way to access additional capabilities in Fusion. Learn more.

The Fusion Manufacturing Extension enables manufacturers to create multiple-sheet nests from a design. These optimize material yield and minimize waste from flat raw material cutting operations. Capabilities include:

If you do not have the Fusion Manufacturing Extension, you can still use the Compare feature and view reports on nests that others have created.

Use Manufacturing Models if you plan to create toolpaths and NC code for your nests. Otherwise, if you only plan to create DXF files of your nest, you don’t need to use Manufacturing Models.

Follow these steps to start nesting shapes with the Fusion Manufacturing Extension. Parts can be both sheet metal and non-sheet metal.

  1. Select the types of objects to include in your nest using the Nest Preparation dialog.
  2. Make changes, or add materials and packaging, to your design.
  3. (Optional) Set up global parameters and add sources for your nest using the Component Sources dialog.
  4. Create a nest study with nest-specific parameters and sources using the Create Nest Study dialog.
  5. View your nest study.
  6. Edit your nest study.
  7. Compare nest studies.
  8. Export your nest.
