Design preferences

Design preferences are document-level settings that define how Fusion prepares your design for manufacturing. They apply to the whole design and are saved with it. Unlike design rules, design preferences do not check your layout for violations and do not appear in the Design Rules editor. Instead, they describe the manufacturing characteristics your design is built around.

Design preferences include:

• Layer Stack: The copper layers, the structure of a multilayer board, and the via types your board uses.
• Shapes: The default shapes for pads and SMDs.
• Supply: The thermal symbols used in copper planes.
• Drill Legend: The symbol assigned to each drill diameter for manufacturing drawings.
• Designators: How reference designators display for designs that use modules.

Check with your board manufacturer for the standard values your design should use.
