Open Files in a Connected Drive

There are two ways to open a file in a connected drive for viewing and editing: from the local directory or from the data source.

Note: Desktop Connector must be running to open or save files in a connected drive.

Open a file from the local directory

• Navigate to the file in the connected drive on your local machine.
• Windows®–Double-click on the file to open it.
  Note: When opening Inventor files in Windows®, the default .ipj for the project is used.

  macOS®–Force-click the file to open it.

Open a file from the data source (Windows® Only)

• Navigate to the file in the data source.
• Do one of the following:
  • Select the file and click Edit on Desktop.
    
  • Open the file in Details View and click Edit on Desktop.

• The file automatically opens on your local machine from the associated connected drive.
